In today’s fast-paced, always-connected world, everything screams more, more, more. In fashion, there are often many designers who opt for a flashy look when distinguishing themselves. Some people like that, but others do not. For those who do not, meet Theory.

Theory, a fashion label founded in 1997 by Calvin Klein’s Andrew Rosen, is the opposite of all that represents today’s fast-paced, flashy world. It’s a fashion label that is minimalist, super-clean, and impeccably-tailored – and as such, goes against the status quo. Theory produces both men’s and women’s fashions, but today, we will discuss Theory’s Men’s Collection.

Theory’s Men’s Collection was launched in 1999, approximately two years after the founding of the original Theory label. After the success of the original label, Theory sought to produce understated men’s fashions that appealed to both businessmen and weekend beach-goers. As a result, Theory’s Men Collection encompasses an array of different fashions including: sportswear, tailored clothing, suiting, casual weekend wear, beachwear, and more. If you’re looking for it, chances are Theory has it.

One particular area of Theory’s Men’s Collection that has always fascinated (and awed) me is their tailored clothing and suiting. Theory is unique within men’s clothing due to its unique tailoring – each piece is tailored to perfection and is never too loose or too fitted. Each piece fits just right. Take the Theory Xylo Men’s Suit, for example. Most men’s suits are tailored in one of two ways: classic or slim fit. But Theory’s Xylo Suit is tailored somewhere in the middle – a slightly fitted suit that drapes against the body but is never too tight. You can breathe, but it looks awesome, too. A Theory Xylo Suit makes a statement, albeit a very understated and low-key one.

For office-casual pragmatists, Theory offers a collection of seasonal sportswear sure to please any audience. At the office, you can wear one of Theory’s many Spring / Summer 2012 sportshirts, along with tailored cotton trousers. On the weekend, however, be sure to don a Theory polo (made of the finest materials) or a Theory t-shirt (pima cotton, anyone?). Both can be worn with a pair of Theory’s luxurious, chic shorts.
