Mira Sushi, a Sushi and Sake Bar and Asian Fusion Restaurant, has opened in Manhattan’s Flatiron / Chelsea neighborhood on 22nd Street. The restaurant replaces the Asian American restaurant Silk Rd Tavern, which occupied the same space from May 2012 through January 2013.

Chef Brian Tsao, formerly of the famed Nobu in Tribeca, and Liang’s in Forest Hills, Queens, serves up the freshest sushi, sashimi, and Asian fusion small plates and entrees with a Manhattan twist. Look for innovative sushi rolls such as the Berry Naughty Roll –  spicy tuna & avocado wrapped in spicy yellowtail w. toasted almonds & raspberry sauce – and a wide selection of different sakes for every palate.

Mira Sushi also serves up Asian specialty dishes with Japanese and Korean influences, such as Bulgogi beef sliders (made with Korean grilled beef, shiitake mushrooms, and sharp Vermont cheese), and Yuzu Planche (pan-seared salmon with glazed Japanese yuzu butter).

We were on site for the restaurant’s soft opening last Saturday. What we encountered was fresh, excellent sushi and sashimi, a variety of different textured sake, and innovative small plates that were extremely lovable. Definitely an awesome, timely, and friendly staff, too. A full review is coming soon!
