Vero Chop Salad

I know what you’re thinking: a review of yet another New York City wine bar? Hear me out, because this one is different. But what makes Vero Restaurant and Wine Bar unique is, ironically enough, that’s it’s not unique at all. At Vero, there’s no pretense or gimmick— there’s just delicious food, friendly staff and, of course, great wine.

Located on the Upper East Side (and just a few blocks from the subway), Vero’s uptown location has a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere that’s ideal for relaxing after work with a glass of wine or meeting someone for a dinner date. The wine list is extensive—they have over 100 wines available—and includes something to suit every palate and budget. Patrons can also choose three wines to try in a create-your-own-flight style.

If wine isn’t your thing, Vero also serves five different types of sangria and has an impressive martini list (try the cucumber martini; you won’t be disappointed).

Vero’s menu isn’t huge, but it still offers a variety of small plates, paninis and entrées. Try the wild mushroom flatbread—it’s made with white truffle oil, and while it’s big enough to share with a friend or two, it’s delicious enough that you might not want to.
